How to make a delicious, grain-free, nut-free, low-carb pizza waffle
One of my favorite kitchen appliances is this Dash mini waffle maker from Target for under $10. I have used it to make countless kid-friendly waffle recipes and low-carb waffles.
What is a chaffle made of? This cheesy, low-carb pizza chaffle has no flour and only requires a handful of ingredients you typically have: eggs, cheese, and seasonings. It also makes this a delicious keto-friendly recipe.
A chaffle is excellent for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but you don’t have to choose; you can try all the ways!
For this pizza chaffle recipe, we’re going for a pepperoni pizza vibe. We recommend pairing this recipe with Rao’s sauces. They are made with clean ingredients and low-carb (Net carbs = 5g), macros for their Marinara below:
Pizza Chaffle Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
1C Egg whites
1/8 Tsp of Minced garlic
2 TBSP Cheddar cheese
2 TBSP Mozzarella cheese
4-6 Mini Pepperonis
DRY SEASONING:
1/8 tsp Italian seasoning or basil
Here’s how to make the pizza chaffle:
- If you’re using a mini waffle maker, plug it in to get it preheated.
2. Dice the mini pepperonis into smaller pieces. For larger pepperoni pieces, stack them and cut them into fours. For smaller pieces, you can finely chop them.
3. Mix the egg whites, cheese, pepperoni, and seasonings together.
4. Pour batter but be sure not to overfill to avoid spillage as it cooks.
5. Cook until slightly brown (2-3 minutes) and repeat until you have three pizza chaffles.
Makes one serving (3 mini chaffles) and takes about 20 minutes.
Add-ons to vary the pizza chaffle recipe:
- Meatier the merrier – add Ground beef
- Vegetarian – vegan sausage or veggie crumbles
- Greek – Spinach, sundried tomatoes, and feta
- Veggie lovers – Green peppers, olives, and onions
- Hawaiian style – Ham and pineapple
